			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>When people purchase information products, it is not because they couldn’t get the information somewhere else for free; in fact, they most likely can. With Google as our guide, the internet is full of billions of websites that offer information at no cost. The problem with this, however, is the number of websites that must be searched through and advertisements dodged in order to find good, solid information. </p>
<p>I have been helping clients,’ (lets refer to them as “experts” in their field)  design and market information products for over 10 years. For the most part, they are confused and unsure of how to build a successful, marketable product. Along the way, I guide them through the process and help them avoid making mistakes however, depending on where they are in the process here are the most common mistakes I see:</p>
<p>1) “Experts” worry too much about incomplete content.</p>
<p>If you refuse to start building the product look and components before every  “i” is dotted and “t” is crossed, you’ll never get your product to the marketplace. As an expert, you may be constantly tweaking and updating your system or information. Remember “Good is good enough”, Bill Glazer of GKIC will tell you.</p>
<p>The content is indeed the most important thing because that is what is being purchased, but there are also other parts of the project that need to be addressed. As you develop more and more product content, you can continue to add-on to your product and provide it to your clients in the form of updates or continuity. In the beginning, put together as many of your most valuable points so that you are providing the best information to the customer. As time goes on, you can add to it. Remember customer is getting value. </p>
<p>2) Experts don’t put enough energy into marketing because they are too wrapped up in the product.</p>
<p>If a potential customer doesn’t know your information product exists, how can they possibly buy it? Your product may have great information enclosed, but no one will know that if you don’t diligently market it. Your marketing plan need to include a compelling sales letter, a webpage and blog. In addition, you can try marketing techniques from article marketing to internet marketing – just make sure you’re marketing the product!      </p>
<p>          ]]&gt;</p>
<p>Tony Robbins, who sells information products related to personal growth development, is a great example of how to build a strong marketing campaign. His website is clean, respectable, and well made. The overall impression presented is of trustworthiness in he way he displays himself and his products. </p>
<p>3) Experts worry too much about the inside and try to perfect the appearance.</p>
<p>Buyers of information are more interested in the content contained inside the product than the appearance – they aren’t paying for pretty graphics or syntax. You could be spending this time increasing awareness about the existence of your product or adding even more useful information. Certainly, make sure the product is readable and organized nicely, but it is not necessary to struggle over the font or other visual elements.</p>
<p>An important note about the appearance of the product is that you must match the cover image or logo with the title name. If the image you use to represent your product and the title of the product don’t match, there will be a huge disconnect and your product will immediately lose validity (and sales). </p>
<p>If you take a look at Paul Meyers’ products including 24 Keys That Bring Complete Success and A Fortune to Share, you’ll notice that both attached images are simple but also reflect what is inside. 24 Keys That Bring Complete Success’s cover has a person holding a key with a label attached that says “Complete Success”. The cover is clever yet easy too look at.</p>
<p>4) No additional marketing and sales information is included within the information product. </p>
<p>If the customer gained a lot of useful knowledge, likes the style of your information product, or wants to know more, make it easy for them. Include a pamphlet or some sort of marketing/sales information for your other information products inside all of the packages. You might miss out on a quality sale if you don’t let the customer know that you have other guidance to offer them. </p>
<p>Say you have as many products as Bill Glazer and Dan Kennedy – if you didn’t include additional marketing information, you could be missing out on a few thousand dollars in sales just through that one buyer!</p>
<p>5) No free sample/free report (with real &amp; true information!) is offered for potential buyers.</p>
<p>Most people don’t like to buy products blind; they like to know what they are purchasing. On your sales letter or other marketing materials, be sure you offer a free sample of your information product. For example, you could always give chapter one away free or offer a free report. If the customer likes chapter one, they will be much more willing to come back and purchase the rest of your information. Think about it – if you hadn’t given away the free sample, they probably wouldn’t have purchased it anyway so you’re not losing a sale.</p>
<p>No matter what kind of freebie you decide to offer interested customers, make sure it is reflective of what they will get when they purchase the product. For example, on Zig Ziglar’s website, he offers free MP3’s and other downloads of books he has written as a free preview of his work. He also writes a newsletter with free information that he then sends out to people who sign up.</p>
<p>I’ve mentioned many famous and highly successful information marketers. They’ve made their money this way for a reason; most likely because they’re good at what they do and have information marketing down to a science. To make your knowledge profitable, all you have to do is follow their recipes for success and you’ll certainly, with time, reach their level of notoriety as well.                </p>

<p>Product marketing is a wide subject that covers a lot of things. It can include advertising, sales, and promotions. Although sales, and product marketing (or advertising) are two are very different things, a lot of people seem to mistake sales with marketing. </p>
<p>Product marketing is the preliminary task and it requires getting a product into the market, promoting it and encouraging the sale of it. Whereas sales, is actually selling your product or service to the customer. Can you differentiate the difference?</p>
<p>Product Marketing Sounds Easy. Can I do it Myself?</p>
<p>Some people have a misconception about the term ‘marketing’ and they think that it is an easy job that anyone can do. While it can be financially beneficial for you to do all of your marketing in-house, it might pay off in the long run to hire the services of a professional marketing consultant.      </p>

<p>Your product marketing professional will be able to concentrate on all of your business’ marketing strategies without being bothered by the office politics etc. Sometimes it can be good to get a fresh set of eyes within your business, find someone who can think outside the square. </p>

<p>What are the Business Costs Involved in Product Marketing?</p>
<p>Some experts recommend that a business serious about its product marketing should invest around 20% of their time and money into product marketing. </p>
<p>If you persist and continue to reinvest into marketing on an ongoing basis, you should see improved results. You may then find that some experts suggest (when your business continues to grow) that it is ok to decrease the amount invested in marketing. Less money spent and more money in. &#8211; It may sound nice, but unfortunately, it’s rarely the case. </p>
<p>Think of the most famous soft drink company in the world. Coca Cola. Now they spend a LOT of money and resources on advertising even though they are number one. They want to stay there! And they will if they continue to market their product the way they do.</p>
<p>There is no way to give you a set dollar amount of how much marketing business costs. </p>
<p>To get a rough indication, you will need to find the best marketing strategies that will work best for you to attract your target market. These days’ the internet should always be utilised, but what about the local newspaper? How about the radio or even television? You should consider all avenues that you think may be effective. </p>
<p>The internet is definitely one of the most cost effective marketing strategies available to you. A lot of business owners are cutting down their marketing costs by marketing online. </p>
<p>Think about this. If it costs you $100 to manufacture something, how much can you then sell it for to make a decent profit? Now you don’t need a degree in Mathematics or Business to work this out. It’s simple. If you’re thinking about taxes, marketing, manufacturing costs and overheads etc, you are thinking all wrong… Well not entirely.</p>
<p>Remember, you can sell your product at the price your customers willing to pay for it and that is why it is so important to market your product effectively!                </p>

<p>Even for those of us who have been dabbling in the Internet marketing arena for a decade or more, all these latest frenzied &#8220;Info-Product Launches&#8221; are downright scary. In recent months it is not only the product launches themselves that have become a little frightening, but also the rate at which these product launches keep bombarding all of us in the marketing world. It has become so relentless you feel like you&#8217;re an extra, ducking for cover in some war movie; Saving Private Ryan comes quickly to mind.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Once upon a time, not too long ago, you might get hit with one or two really major launches in a year. Now it seems like we are getting two or three a week. Those actively looking for good, solid marketing information will be totally drenched in the latest &#8220;How To&#8221; ebooks, videos and courses. Plus, throw in all those debuting membership sites, seminars, and private coaching sessions and even seasoned marketers are in serious danger of getting &#8220;Info Product Launch Burn-out.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>For the beginning wannabe online marketer it is a virtual mind field. One misstep and you can wake up, scratching your head: did I actually pay that much for a marketing product I can barely understand, let alone put into practice. Just the opposite, they brag and boast about how they can manipulate, control and whip prospective customers into such a buying frenzy just to see who can sell the largest amount of product in the shortest amount of time.</p>

<p>Some savvy and ruthless online marketers have turned this whole launch process into an art form, offering flashy videos with real valuable content in order to hook potential customers and capture their email contact information. The info-product launch flows out like a well-rehearsed opera:</p>

<p>Some of the top marketing pros and experts are now even offering courses on how to do exactly that: courses showing HOW you can warm up and psychologically cultivate a whole list of prospective buyers by giving away very valuable information in videos, reports and online calls&#8230; all to make that final sale.</p>

<p>There is nothing wrong with making a sale. There is nothing wrong with making a hundred sales, but there is something intrinsically wrong when you know in your heart of heart what you&#8217;re selling will never be used by half the people who are buying it.</p>

<p>How many of those sales are from naive or desperate buyers looking for a &#8216;quick fix&#8217; or &#8216;easy ride&#8217; to the good life? How many even if they have the money to buy your product will never have the will power and fortitude to carry out the marketing game plan in your product?</p>

<p>How many people are being fooled by all this marketing hype and rhetoric&#8230; how many will actually benefit from buying your product? Makes one wonder if that old saying is really true that in any gold rush, it is the people selling to the miners who make the most money.</p>

<p>All of these marketing products should not only come with an income disclaimer, which all the marketers prudently include, if only by some magical power we could see displayed on each product in big bold letters the tell-tell statistic: &#8220;How many buyers will actually read/view/use and ultimately benefit from the marketing info-product they have just purchased?&#8221;</p>

<p>Online marketing is not easy. It can&#8217;t be done overnight. There is a learning curve and you must pay your dues. Be extra weary of any short cuts and anyone offering them. No product or system can automatically make you rich. Don&#8217;t be fooled by flashy headlines, smart videos and the latest next big thing.</p>

<p>Nor can anyone say these info-products don&#8217;t have real value or merit. They do! They are of tremendous value to those who can benefit from them.
